Digital Cardboard Clash: Bapter vs. Tubbs
Just two guys, ten games, and a lot of opinions.
Hello everyone, and welcome back to Board Gaming with Bapter! This post is a first of its kind, and hopefully not the last.
Digital board gaming, whether you like it or not, has become a huge part of the hobby. From new apps of our favorite games to more and more titles landing on Board Game Arena, there’s no shortage of ways to play online.
So why not make it interesting? I reached out to my buddy Ryan (TubbsPlaysGames on IG) and pitched an idea: we’d each pick five games to play together on Board Game Arena, then share our thoughts on our own platforms.
What are the 10 games? Let’s take a look at the list below.
Bapter’s Picks
Zenith
Obsession
Galactic Cruise
Dracula vs. Van Helsing
Toy Battle
TubbsPlaysGames’ Picks
Great Western Trail
Castle Combo
Carcassone
Agricola
Watergate
I feel confident about some of these games on both sides, but others… I’m just hoping to keep it respectable. Not feeling great about my chances in Agricola, Obsession, or Watergate, but I think I can hold my own in the rest.
I just don’t want to crack under pressure, because being an embarrassment to my family isn’t exactly the goal here. So maybe don’t tell them I’m doing this. Okay, that might be a little too cheeky.
So, which game are we playing first? Check out the video below!
Stay tuned here for updates on how each match-up goes! I’ll be updating this post as we progress, so bookmark it or something, because this is something I assume you don’t want to miss.
Game 1 - Castle Combo
Final score: Bapter 89 (1-0), Tubbs 67 (0-1)
It was a great way to kick things off. I honestly wasn’t feeling confident until the final couple of turns. I don’t usually lean into cards that stack coins on other cards, but I committed to it this time, and it paid off with a few lucky and well-timed buys that really supported the strategy.
Final score details below…
Stay tuned for a report on Game 2!

I must say, 89 is a respectably good score in Castle Combo. Very impressive that you scored that even when two of your cards didn't garner you any points.
That sounds like so much fun! We should definitely find our own way to collab soon, too.
